Dad

Your Dad may have been with you or not,
But he is a love next to mother that is always there for you.
He works to give you home and clothes; food to eat.
No-one will say any bad thing about you in his presence!
He is also afraid of life in ways we ladies know not.
He worries how to make a living for his family.
He is the smell of cologne, tobacco, a car or farm dirt that he,
make’s a living with. He is the smell of the earth and woods.
He will teach you skills of his labor, to hunt for food in the woods.
Teach you to fix a Bike, or a car.
So will He watch for your protection around
Unsavory children on until grown and then too.
He will get up early to start the work of the day.
He will teach you a trade and if he can send you to
College, to learn more than he ever did, he will.
On Weekends a ball game with you he will play.
He faces fear for his family, going without clothing
of style or going hungry one day.
Fear they might meet the wrong mate, and have to call it a day.
Some nights we see a slight hidden tear,
On dad’s face we see worry of the day, and your lives.
He will grieve if you fall away from family and friends.
He will grieve silently; go to the barn to cry.
So let’s keep him inside our hearts and wipe away tears from his eye.
For my Bill and all other dad’s
Our Dad's and Mothers' await us there in Heaven now and soon we shall go.
God will call when it is the time...
